The Biggest Announcement in the History of Hermes Reps!
Ladies and gentlemen, we have news for you all that will change the Hermes rep game, world-wide. We, Uncle Bench now have our own Hermes factory! We are creating our own Birkins and Kellys!
OUR FACTORY NICKNAME WILL BE: UBF
We secretly opened up shop and began production in Sept 2018. Any Birkin or Kelly bought from our website from that moment has come directly from us!
The reason why we didn’t release this news at the time was because:
- We are making the best rep Birkin and Kellys on the market, guaranteed (more on that below).
- We didn’t want to release the news without a proper introduction, and we have been so busy making people’s bags, we were focused on getting our orders fulfilled.
However, it was the Golden Week Festival, and we have a few days down-time, and we are using this down-time to present this ground-breaking news thoroughly, and with all the glamor is deserves.
So, prepare to read the most exciting news to come out in the entire history of the rep Hermes world, and we hope that you all will be as excited as we are about this!
First, let’s get into the details about the key aspects in making a Birkin or Kelly, and how we blow away the competition:
KEY ASPECTS:
Shape:
In our opinion, the shape of the bag is the most important factor in the replication process with Hermes. To get the right shape, the bag is made and then hammered afterwards to shape it. This is very hard to do and get it right, our shape is super close to authentic, I mean pretty much indistinguishable and far better than ANYTHING else out there.
Hermes Exterior Leather – Non-Exotic:
Our exterior leather, like some other high-end Hermes reps, is authentic, top grade Hermes leather, sourced from the HAAS Tannery in France and Perlinger Tannery in Germany. All leathers (Togo, Epsom, Swift, Clemence, Box and Chevre), in all colors and grade (quality) of leather is exact as to what Hermes use for their bags.
Hermes Exterior Leather – Exotic:
We source our Nilo and Porosus Crocodile and alligator leather from HCP, same as Hermes. Our Ostrich comes from Klein Karoo, same as Hermes.
Hermes Interior Leather:
We use Chevre leather for our interior lining, as per genuine, which is stiff, with a spine in the middle. This is the base that plays a big part in holding the shape of the bag. Chevre is goat’s skin, a very tough leather that not all Hermes makers use, and if they don’t, over time, their bags will lose their shape and support.
Middle Lining (Leather):
This is VERY important. Some other Hermes makers use sub-standard leather or other materials (such as card-board) for their middle lining. The middle lining is the material that is in-between the exterior leather and the Chevre leather interior. We use the proper material, which is a Box type leather. It is rigid, which allows the bag to hold its shape over time!
The biggest problem with a lot of other Hermes reps is that they really slouch over time. Ever wondered why? It is because the middle lining material was sub-standard in the bag you bought, and the reason why a lot of other Hermes factories don’t use the proper lining material is because the leather cannot be sourced domestically within China. Because the leather comes from overseas, it is costly, and they don’t want to add on their expenses. Our bags will keep their shape over time, just like and authentic Hermes, because we do spend the extra money for the best middle lining, as per genuine!
Hermes Glue:
We use authentic Hermes glue. There are two huge benefits to this. The first is that there is no bad smell, which is common with a lot of replica items. The smell is down to a less than premium glue being used to assemble the bag. This usually necessitates airing the bag out for a while, for the smell to subside. With our bags, with the authentic glue, this is not a problem you will experience!
The second huge plus point to using authentic Hermes glue is that it is very gentle on the leather. When assembling a Hermes bag, pieces of leather are glued together. Other glues used by other Hermes makers can be very harsh on the leather, and if, for whatever reason, your bag needs to be disassembled (perhaps replacing a damaged part), the glue we use won’t damage the top layer of leather. Imagine this… have you ever put some tape on some Christmas wrapping paper and tried to peel it off again? It totally destroys the wrapping paper. The same happens with most glues other people use on the top layer of leather of their bags. With our glue, is does NOT damage the top layer of leather!
Hermes Piping Edge Color:
As we all know, Hermes bags, especially Birkins, have piping. The color of the piping is a bit tell in whether you have a genuine Hermes or not. We use authentic Hermes piping oil, which is what makes it have the color that it has. So our piping color is identical to authentic Hermes!
Hermes Thread:
Lots of Hermes makers use fake thread that looks like beeswax thread, and some people do use authentic beeswax thread, it is a bit of a mixed bag. However, we use authentic Hermes beeswax thread! A subtle difference, but essential to making the bag perfect.
Hot-stamp Paper:
We use genuine 22k gold hot-stamp paper on our Hermes gold hardware bags. The hot-stamp paper is what is applied to the Hermes stamps on a Hermes bag. Other people use other ways of getting the gold hot-stamp on their GHW (gold hardware) bags, but when using a cleaning pad, it will rub away. Our hot-stamps don’t rub away, and are there to stay.
Hardware & Turn-lock:
Hardware – Our gold plated hardware won’t flake off. It may fade over time, as expected with anything plated, but it won’t chip off, unlike most other Hermes reps! Now of course, we always do our best to provide the best service, and unlike most, if your hardware does fade over time, no problems, send the bag back to us and we will replace the hardware at our cost price!
Turn-lock: The authentic turn-lock on a Hermes rep is super tight, and this is due to the construction of the turn-lock. We use the exact same construction as Hermes for our turn-locks, making ours super tight, just like the genuine. Hermes reps produced by other can be tight or loose, it’s a hit and miss. But not with ours. This is not something that is visually obvious, however, if you have a Hermes rep with a loose turn-lock, and your bad is in the hands of an expert, it is a giveaway. As we’ve said before, the devil is in the details!
Hermes Studs:
A very subtle giveaway with the majority of Hermes reps out there are the studs. The studs used with most Hermes makers (in fact probably all, apart from ours), are not authentic Hermes studs. We use authentic Hermes studs, with the same slightly rounded shape and same size, and we do pearling, just like the genuine!
A great YouTuber called Charles Gross covered this perfectly in his Vlog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHpYfXZy5BU&app=desktop
Hermes Year Stamp Fonts:
We used to get this a lot in the past. People would have considerations on the depth, size and actual font used for the date stamp. We have bought the exact same stamp fonts that Hermes uses, ensuring that the date font will be the same font, the same depth and same size as per genuine!
Hermes Indentation Tool:
There is a slight indentation on Hermes bags, belts, etc., right above the stitching. It is a very subtle line, and we use an authentic Hermes indentation tool to create the indentation perfectly!
PRICING:
Now that you have all been thoroughly blown away by our news, we want to give you even more good news. Seeing as we are now the maker, the middle man is gone, at least for Birkins and Kellys!
